Re: Strangford Meet STILL ON Update 23 24 Sept 17 WEATHER,
Excellent meet Peter, thanks for all the work you put into organising it!
2 days of cracking and varied paddling.
Sat we had 2 roller-coaster downwind paddles in f5/6 ~24K from Killyleagh to top of the lough and ~12k from Killyleagh to Sketrick.
Sunday we had short and long paddles through the Narrows on a rising Spring tide. ~10k from Kilclief to Killyleagh and ~24k from Ardglass to Killyleagh. From Ardglass it was bumpy and lumpy with plenty of clap and confused seas, then after a short stop for lunch we were carried through the relatively flat Narrows. I think I heard mention of 20 knots, maybe some of those with tracking devices can post details. Then the final leg was across the peaceful lough to Killyleagh.
Special thanks to Paul, Joy, Greg and Peter for their help, particularly with the shuttles ( Apologies if I've left anyone out). Cracking paddling, excellent facilities in the OEC and good company in a beautiful part of the island, what more could you ask for!

Great meet. Killyleagh centre was fantastic. Great drying room - only one set of gear needed. Thanks to Peter and his many helpers for a very enjoyable weekend on beautiful Strangford lough. We were traveling at 15kph or 7.5 knots Fiona.
20knots - 40kph !- you'd be done for speeding.
